Eve had been told and knew:

"And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the
trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst
of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye
touch it, lest ye die."

Either you didn't bother to read Genesis, or, you knowingly lied about
its contents. You should humbly take correction, if truth is your aim.
Otherwise we may know and adjudge that dishonesty is your suit.

If you are going to criticize a text and its meaning, surely you should
have first read it and been conversant with its content, before giving
an ill-informed opinion. Fair enough?

Which will it be, Mr. Holman? Will you continue in your false pride,
and brazenly refuse to confess that you lied? Or will you admit that
you are a critic on a subject about which you are ill-informed? The
decision balances between false pride and humility.

I will post under a separate thread what the symbols in Genesis
represent. They are symbols, and the writer never intended for them to
be taken literally. The literalist interpretation of Christians is a
product of ancient pagan and Pharisaical influence, not the intent of
the writers.

You could continue in the same vein of the usual Usenet malcontents and
derelicts, with snappy and meaningless retorts, barbs, insults,
ineffectual gotchas, diminutive slanders, false imputations,
assumptions, presumptions, and other impish behaviors. Or you could
realize that the truth is staring you in the face and is able to be
illuminated in humility.

It is OK to admit you lied. All men are liars, Mr. Holman. The bible
plainly tells us this. Man gets an idea in his head then forms an agenda
and worldview based on his wrong idea. He commits himself to a lie and
invests his time and energy into it, building a momentum in the wrong
direction. Then a man runs full steam ahead projecting his own delusions
in speech. But the man of justice, pauses when he is called to account
for his mistake, and he seeks to remedy his wrong.

You, sir, have slandered the book of Genesis with a false statement.
You said God punished Eve for something she didn't know about. Yet
Eve's own words say that she knew full well that it was forbidden to
eat of or touch the tree of knowledge. Will you correct your error?

These Usenet discussions are not just about points of fact, agreements,
or disagreements. They are a revelation of men's character. One great
aim the scripture is to reveal God's character to man, and to reveal
man's character to himself so that man will learn to judge himself
instead of waiting for God to judge. What character of man are you?
