The letter "I" was pronounced the same as the letter "J". In ancient
English, Greek, and Hebrew, and many other languages, when the letter
"I" precedes a vowel it represents the "J" sound. So your conclusion is
wrong.

IEW is pronounced JOO. "I" before a vowel sounds like "J".

IESUS is pronounced JEE-ZUS. "I" before a vowel sounds like "J".

The modern fairy tale about the ancient Hebrew and Greek JOT being a "Y"
is bunk. Today they call it Yod or Yad. This is a modern invention. In
ancient Greek and Hebrew the letter was pronounced JOT.

A JOT before a vowel in ancient Hebrew has a "J" sound. When the English
invented the letter "J" they were following the same convention as the
Greek and Hebrew. Prior to the letter "J" in English, the letter "I"
before a vowel carried the "J" sound.
