The dispute is about who will have the dominion. Although you quoted Jude 1:9, you omitted the prior verse and verses after: Jude 1:8,10-11 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. The dispute is about dominion over tribes of Israel and nations, and the manner or law of sacrifice, and who carries on in the authority of Moses (Joshua at the time). Each tribe and nation has at its head a "archangel" or chief messenger or envoy to the King of Kings. An Apostle is an archangel. But who is the lead archangel is in dispute, until if falls upon Joshua. Dominion comes by the blood of Jesus Christ, not by man forcing a sacrifice by means of man's hands. The Devil, or Satan, sought to take the body of Moses (the law) and use it to provoke Israel to sin through idolatry or fleshly hero worship (clergy, pastorate). Getting them to trust in the law (or leaders) instead of the blood of Jesus is a form of idolatry.
