The rich man represents the Kingdom of Judea. Jesus is telling how the nation of Judea will not escape the coming judgment. He is not talking about the eternal destiny of every individual man in the future. You take it out of context and build a "eternal hell" doctrine out of it but that is not what Jesus says here. =20 > You and the person who wrote what you responded to are of this > scriptural ill,... Jesus used the parable of Lazarus to prophesy the destruction of Judea for rejecting Him. Their damnation by fire is a reference to the destruction of the nation and the lasting suffering of the generations to follow: "For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
